St. Francis High School has had one of the most successful high school theater programs in Southern California for the past decade and this year should be no exception. Our theater company has already started work on its fall musical, “Troubadour”, which chronicles and brings to life through music the story of our patron saint, Francis of Assisi.

The show is significant to our school in two ways. First, it is a dramatization of the founding of the Franciscan order. Secondly, and possibly more significant, our performance will be the Los Angeles premier of this previously off-Broadway play. St. Francis High School, under the advisement of Mr Eulalia and Mr. Tucci, bought into the rights for “Troubadour”. The theater directors are now working with the original writers to tailor the show to the strengths of our cast and the style of our theater.

Auditions were held during the first week of September and rehearsals are well underway. The cast consists of 25 actors and actresses, a relatively small group for a St. Francis musical. Leading the show are senior Andrew Pilmer as Francesco (Francis), junior Emma Camp as Ciarra (Claire), senior Nick Bruno as Elias, and senior Mishael Edu as Pica. Knight Life contributors Christian Romo, Alex Sercel, and Steve Shushnar are also taking part in its presentation. The production is being directed by Mr.Eulalia and produced by Mr. Tucci. The show will run from November 11-14 and tickets will be on sale in October. Log on to Knight Life for more “Troubadour” updates.
