You’ve met her.  You see her every day on our way into school.  But do you really know who she is?  In this exclusive interview with Knight Life, our resident crossing guard told me a little bit about herself.

Knight Life:  The students of Saint Francis High School know you as “The Crossing Guard Lady”.  What is your real name and where are you from?

Ms. Rodriguez:  My name is Kim Rodriguez.  I was born and raised in Glendale and I went to school at Eagle Rock High.

Knight Life:  How did you come upon being a crossing guard?

Ms. Rodriguez:  I used to be a nanny.  When the kids went to school at PCY, I decided to follow them and make sure they were safe so I became a crossing guard over there.  Now they go to LCHS and they hate the fact that I still see them every morning (laughs).

Knight Life:  What is the best part of cross walk guarding?

Ms. Rodriguez:  Getting to see and to talk to all the kids every day.

Knight Life:  Do you have any hobbies?

Ms. Rodriguez:  Let’s see.  I like gardening, riding my bike, helping my friend’s parents, and cooking.  I LOVE to cook.  Right now I’m growing squash, jalapenos, tomatoes, and peppers in my garden which I cook with.

Knight Life:  What is your favorite pizza topping?

Ms. Rodriguez:  Garlic.  I love garlic.  I’ll eat anything with garlic (laughs).

Now you know.  Remember to say hi to Ms. Rodriguez every morning on your way in to class.
